2023 - 2025 Projects
Below are the projects that are forecasted for the 2023 - 2025 calendar years. The source of funding is in the (parentheses) and many of these projects stemmed from recommendations in the Economic Development plans which you may access HERE.
Because many of these projects are partnerships with other government entities, these dates are projections and are subject to change due to a variety of circumstances, i.e. weather delays, construction complications, or other events. With respect to all of our residents, we will strive to update this information promptly if there are any significant changes. Please see attachments at the bottom. Updates from the Frankin County Engineers Office, March 2024:
- We are waiting for ODOT approval on our responses to the Cooke Rd public comments we received. Once we receive their approval we will post our responses on our website next to the issued Public Involvement documents.
- The Cleveland Avenue Safety Improvement project has been expanded to the south include the intersections of Dunbar/Piedmont/Dunedin side streets. Previously the southern limits of the project were at Huy Rd. The northern limits of the project remain at Cooke Rd, with resurfacing planned as far north as Ormond Ave.
- The goal is to award Cleveland Avenue Safety Improvement project in July 2024. The contractor may begin construction late this summer or, more than likely due to the lead time it takes to acquire the overhead mast arms for the mid-block pedestrian crossing signage, they may start in Spring 2025. Columbus advised that their similar project to the south on Cleveland Avenue experienced 40+ week lead times on this material. We don’t want our contractor to start construction late this summer if they cannot also finish the project before winter.
- The goal is to award the Cooke Rd Improvement project in Fall 2025 with construction beginning in Spring 2026. Utility relocation work will begin in Fall 2024, starting with AEP relocating all utility poles located on the north side of Cooke Rd between Karl Rd and Walford St. Columbia Gas will also have significant relocation work on the south side of Cooke Rd that will take place prior to Spring 2026.

Elmore Ave sidewalk (2023/2024Township) - Relocate storm inlets and new sidewalks. FCEO updates click HERE
Resurfacing roads north of Ferris Rd (Aug/Sep 2023/Township) - This includes some full depth repair with the resurfacing. COMPLETED
OPWC Grant: Walford St/Ormond Ave improvements (Aug/Sep 2023/State and Township) - Some full depth repair/resurface. COMPLETED
Ferris Rd and Walford St area alley improvements (Now Oct 2023 (was Aug 2023)/County and Township) - Chip and seal Ward Rd and Sale Rd alleys. COMPLETED
Playground Mulch (Spring/Summer 2023/Township) - Replacing old mulch with new blue rubber mulch. COMPLETED
New sidewalks along Chambers Rd (2024 & 2025/*pending funding) - Sidewalk from Hess Blvd. to Kenny Rd.
Ferris Rd Improvements (2024 - 2025/County, Federal, and State) - New road surface/storm drains/sidewalks.
The permanent closure of Walford St at Northern Lights (Jul 2023/Township) - This project is a joint partnership with DLC, the owners of the Northern Lights shopping center and will eliminate access to Northern Lights from Walford St and onto Walford St from the shopping center. COMPLETED
Innis Rd improvements (2024/County) - Sidewalks/bike lanes/lane reductions.
Cleveland Ave Safety Improvement Project (2024 - 2026 County and Township) - This will include a complete "facelift" of the Northern corridor of Cleveland Ave in the Township.
